Laying Under a Tree

A classic style duet reimagining the story of Adam & Eve, except this time deciding not to eat the apple, and taking place in New Orleans at Jazzfest. This is the first collaboration between Becky & Arlen, written and recorded in the Tin Pan Alley neighborhood of New York. Becky and Arlen are inspired to revive the tradition and style of songwriting from the era of Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and Harold Arlen, with a modern take.

About

Queer American singer-songwriter and producer Becky Krill has concocted a sound all her own, delivering soulful vocals over warm, nostalgic and inspired instrumentals. Her approach to songwriting? Classic and unquestionably folk (lots of storytelling). Inspired by a wide-range of influences including Ani Difranco, Sara Bareilles, TLC, The Rolling Stones, Brandi Carlile and Tupac, Becky released her self-produced debut album Little Girl in 2021 and is gearing up for a sophomore release in 2026.
